RebuildMyChurch.org was born out of a series of conversations at 2010 NCCYM between D. Scott Miller, Tony Vasinda, and Joe Mele. These conversations focused around a number of topics, but the key themes were the state of youth ministry in parishes, the conversations that needed to happen to help our field grow, and how great it would be to have a TED style event focused on Catholic youth ministry.
Tony, Scott, and Joe all spent time talking with each other about these topics, but each of them were unaware until a few weeks later that this had really been a three way dialogue. After a few more emails and a couple of conference calls we settled on the rough vision for a new project.
We wanted to create and online, free, and participatory experience. We wanted to make sure that they drew from a wide and diverse cross section of voices, skills, and histories for speakers and presenters. We wanted the presentations to be something that could be accessible for professionals or volunteers, as well as challenging veterans and newcomers alike. We looked at other resources, conferences, and training projects like TED, The Nines, and many more to help the clarify the goals, focus, and format for our event.
After 6 months of dialogue RebuildMyChurch.org was born! As we have grown our leadership team grown and changed. In our first year we welcomed Matt Matasso on to handle broadcasting and in 2012 we had Michael Marchand jump in as Web Guru. Currently we offer two different types of events, the re:Build Conference and Blueprints. See some details about theses events below or check out footage from previous events in the archive section. Also keep an eye on our Facebook Page for information about our upcoming events!
Our Events
re:Build Conference: At first we focused on just one event called re:Build. We believed that we had a firm Foundation in Christ, and a beautiful Vision from our Church, but we felt that it was time for youth ministers to rebuild our ministries to reach new heights. For each re:Build we identify 6 great speakers, partner with great sponsors, and present fresh ideas from diverse voices. re:Build is high on ideas, dialogue, vision casting, and inspiration. We broadcast re:Build twice a year in March and November and it draws a global audience of over 500 youth workers. If you want to speak at or sponsor an upcoming re:build Conference please contact us and let us know.
Blueprints Webshow: In late 2012 we launched our second event. Blueprints is a live panel discussion show about youth ministry that airs on the second Tuesday of each month. Each episode we gather 5 panelist together to discuss, debate and present concrete ideas about on specific topic in youth ministry. Not only do you get the chance to listen to ideas and advise from 5 experts or professionals, you also get to ask them your questions and get real answers through live chat. Have an for us to discuss? Want to be a panelist? Want to partner with us to make Blueprints better? Contact us and let us know!
